Advice and sales representation for biogas upgrading
We help plant owners, developers and investors choose the right upgrading route and avoid costly mistakes. We also represent selected upgrading system manufacturers towards end users.
Engineering-led. Open about who we represent. Based in the Netherlands, working across Europe and Türkiye.
Engineering and commercial advice in one place
Biogas upgrading turns raw biogas into biomethane for grid injection, CNG or bioLNG. The technical and commercial choices you make early decide your return for the next 15 to 20 years.
Dornatec Engineering supports clients through these choices. We combine a mechanical engineering background with an MBA and more than 13 years of commercial experience in industrial equipment markets across EMEA.
We also act as sales agent for selected upgrading system manufacturers. We always tell you which manufacturers we represent, and how we are paid, before we advise on them.
What we do
Technology selection
We compare upgrading routes for your gas, site and end use. We look at methane recovery, energy use, operating cost, footprint and maintenance. If we represent a manufacturer of one option, we tell you first.
Feasibility and business case
Capex and opex estimates, revenue scenarios, sensitivity to gas, power and incentive prices, and a clear go or no-go recommendation.
Gas quality and grid or end-use requirements
We translate grid, CNG and bioLNG specifications into clear plant requirements. This includes pre-treatment needs such as drying and removal of impurities.
Tender and offer evaluation
We prepare technical specifications, collect offers and compare them on equal terms. We check guarantees, scope gaps and lifecycle cost, not only purchase price. If we represent one of the bidders, we say so.
Project support
Technical review during engineering, factory and site acceptance, commissioning and ramp-up. We act as your owner's engineer.
Plant performance review
For operating plants: methane loss, availability, energy consumption and maintenance cost. We identify practical improvements and upgrade options.
Sales representation
For upgrading system manufacturers: local market access, lead development, customer contact and offer follow-up until order. Terms are agreed with each manufacturer.

Common questions
Which upgrading technology is best?
It depends on your gas quality, site, end use and local prices. That is why we compare options for your project. If we represent a supplier of one option, we tell you first.
Do you sell equipment?
We do not make equipment. We act as sales agent for selected manufacturers and advise buyers. We tell you which manufacturers we represent before we advise on them.
How early should we involve a consultant?
Before you request offers. Early decisions on scale, technology and end use have the largest effect on return.
Can you help with an existing plant?
Yes. We review performance and suggest practical improvements.
How do you charge?
Fixed fee for defined scopes, day rate for support work. Agreed before we start. For sales representation, the manufacturer pays us. We tell you if this applies to your project.
Do you work outside the Netherlands?
Yes. We work across Europe and in Türkiye.
